V60’s are one of our favourite brew methods because of its simplicity and capability of making a beautiful clean cup of coffee. Our easy to use brew guide below gives simple steps on how to brew the perfect V60 at home.
Equipment:
Hario V60 Dripper
Hario V60 paper filter
Coffee Scales
Kettle/ Goose neck kettle
Timer
Server
Recipe:
For this recipe, we're using 15g of coffee for 250ml of water.Â
Coffee:Â 15g (filter grind CRC coffee)
Water:Â 250ml
Temperature for coffee extraction: Between 93-96 degrees.
Step by step guide:
Step 1: Preparation
Heat your water to between 93-96 degrees or just below boiling. Place the V60 paper filter in the dripper and rinse it with hot water to remove taints and preheat the brewing vessel.
Weigh out 15g of coffee grounds and put them in the V60. Gently shake to make sure the bed of the coffee is flat.
Step 2: The Pour
Place the V60 onto the scales and tare (zero). Start your timer and pour in 50g of boiled water to bloom the coffee, making sure all the coffee is saturated. After 30 seconds begin the second poor, pouring in a circular motion and adding another 50g of water. Do this a further 3 times adding 50g of water every time 30 seconds apart until you have poured a total of 250g of water.
Step 3: Enjoyment
Once all the water has passed through the filter (usually around 3-4 minutes), your coffee is ready. Remove the V60 dripper, inhale the rich aromas you have created, and enjoy your coffee ritual.
